It's time for this year's WOW (Walk/Wheel on Wednesday) Challenge!

Below is a message from Evren Sönmez, Program Manager of Living Streets Alliance, Tucson, about this year's WOW challenge.

Dear Kellond parents,

As the morning temperatures are cooling off, you've probably started noticing an increase in the number of flyers that come home with your children announcing Safe Routes to School Program activities and offerings. Our WOW (Walk/Wheel on Wednesday) Challenge started at the beginning of September and will continue throughout the semesterwe're offering our first Free Bike Repair Clinic this coming Thursday, and the weekly Walking School Bus is starting this Wednesday, September 21.

A Walking School Bus (WSB) is a group of children and grown-ups walking to/from school together. For now, Kellond's WSB will run on Wednesday mornings along a single route. With more parent interest and involvement as WSB route leaders, we hope to offer more routes later in the school year. Please let us know if you're interested in learning more about becoming a route leader!

WSB is a great way for kids to start the day with their friends and get a little fresh air and exercise, even if you normally drive them to school. You can just drop them off at the WSB route instead or park your car and join the route yourself on Wednesday mornings.

Ready to register your child? Please fill out the online registration form at this link or print and fill out the registration form below and return it to the school.
I hope that you're just as excited about the great walking & biking weather ahead of us and the upcoming SRTS activities at Kellond. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or ideas you'd like to share. I look forward to working with you to spread the joy of foot-powered journeys!

Sincerely,
Evren Sönmez
